Inspired Architecture

This space might appear simple, with just the two chairs placed in the room - but look at the details:

The recessed niche, mounted by a shell motif, supports a surround of raised pilasters, and capitals that support a broken pediment. Here, the architect or designer has created a more open void at the break, and a slightly more slanted rake to the crown pieces. This will forever translate as a custom and thoughtful take on the traditional. Also, note the make-up of the crown moldings, as composite layers, and unique profile, again not being a slave to conventional traditional elements. Finally, note the scale of the moldings, the door trim and base moldings that all conform to a story of scale and proportion in this room.

As the foundational components are now in place, this room is ready for the decoration, and appointment of the lighting fixtures, window treatments and furnishings to thoughtfully add to create a space that is truly human and a room that is wonderful to live in.

Now it will be important to keep the scale and proportion of things - perhaps the hanging light fixture here - and provide a pleasing size that is neither too small or too large, the goal being to provide the right complement to the space.
